Spotlight on: Hang With Love

Welcome to Small Business Spotlight! In these posts I highlight a local or online small business that I admire, to bring awareness to them. Today's business is my own... Hang With Love!

Name: Hang With Love
Owner: Tianna Eddy (me! :))
Founded: February 2015
Industry: Wedding, Childrens, Gifts
Product: Customized wooden hangers with wire lettering
Based in: Rogue River, OR.

What I love about Hang With Love: I made hangers for my bridesmaids with their names on them back when I got married in 2012. Since then I forgot I still had the supplies, until early 2015 when I tried to think of something I could make to sell. Then I remembered the hangers! I decided to make an ad with my prices and a picture from back then, and I came up with the name "Hang With Love" that same day. I shared it on facebook in a few groups including two local wedding groups, and since then I've completed several orders. I now offer child sized hangers as well, and I hope to market them to families who want a special personalized hanger for their kids. :) They say ideally you should build a business around something you enjoy, and for me, Hang With Love is just that. I love crafting, and working with wire is so fun, Also I love weddings, and I love that I'm helping and working with local brides! One cool thing is that every hanger is unique. They are fully customizable, and because they are handmade, no two hangers are alike. :)

Bottom Line: If you know someone who is getting married and needs a gift for their Bridesmaids, send them to Hang With Love!

DIY Lemon Mint Sugar Scrub

What is a Sugar Scrub? I didn't know the benefits of a sugar scrub until a couple days ago, when I made one for myself. I can tell you that you're going to want to try this!

Sugar Scrubs are easy to mix together from ingredients you have at home. They are used to exfoliate the skin, which means to get rid of dead skin cells. You apply it straight to your skin and rub it around so the sugar granules can "scrub" off the dead skin. It is also a great (and fun) way to apply essential oils to your skin. I used this sugar scrub on my face, and it left my skin feeling refreshed, soft, and healthy! I'm sure it would feel heavenly on your feet or back as well!

Recipe:
1 Cup granulated sugar
1/2 Cup oil (I used grapeseed. You could use any fatty oil, such as olive oil or coconut oil.)
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
5 Drops Young Living peppermint essential oil
5 Drops Young Living lemon essential oil

Mix sugar and oil together in a bowl, then add lemon juice and oils. Experiment with different oils for different flavors and uses. Some suggestions are: Frankincense, Melaleuca, Rose, Jasmine, Geranium, and Carrot Seed.

Awesome ways to use and give this Sugar Scrub:
-housewarming gift
-baby or bridal shower
-girls night
-make & take party
-my favorite things party
-place in your guest bathroom for guests to use
-have extra jars on hand for a last-minute gift

Enjoy! Let me know how you liked it and if you experimented with other flavors! :)

Spoonful of Scripture: John 16:20-22

"Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice.

You will be sorrowful,

but your sorrow will turn into JOY

When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for JOY that a human being has been born into the world.

So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice,

and no one will take your JOY from you."

- John 16:20-22. {ESV}

Five Things I Love #1

1. Old books. And new books. And books with great endings.

Kindles don't have this kind of magic.

2. VW Bugs. They have always been my favorite kind of car.

Herbie: the best VW Bug alive.

3. Ballet. I'm proud to be a ballerina. ♥

My childhood dream came true.

4. Disneyland. I can't wait to go in September!

This year is its 60th anniversary!

5. Trees with Fairy Lights in them! Why can't they grow like this?

P.S. They have these at Disneyland. ;)

"Five Things I Love" is a celebration of God's little blessings - brought to you by I Am A Mommy Blogger.

This Is So Me

Hello Blogosphere! I thought I would introduce myself. My name is Tianna, and while I'm not new to the blogging world, I recently felt inspired to make a new blog especially dedicated to my life as a new mommy. My goal is to have regular posts, some fun, some serious, some helpful. Sometimes I will just write as the mood strikes.

Where did I get my blog name? I must admit, I stole it from the movie, "Mom's Night Out." One of the main mommy's phrases is "I Am A Mommy Blogger." It is a great movie, and she is a pretty awesome character that reminds me of myself in some ways. I thought I would try out this "mommy blogging thing." We'll see where it takes me!

A little about me... I am a dancer. I took ballet for 10 years. I was homeschooled. I can't thank my parents enough. I am a Disneyland Fanatic. It was my favorite place besides home growing up, and I think it still might be. I love musicals. My parents passed this love on to me, and now my husband shares it as well. I am a filmmaker. Works include dozens of mini video plays, two family films, and one feature-length film still to be released. I am a Narnian. The Chronicles of Narnia will always have a special place in my heart. I am left-brained. My firstborn tendencies are pretty strong in the logic, organization and leadership departments. I love projects. Or do I hate them? I can't seem to get away from my many lists of things I need to do and want to do- on paper, on pinterest, in my head... I am a Homemaker. Yes, it is a full-time job, and no, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I am a Christian. I believe the Bible is the inerrant and complete word of God, and I strive to live by it. I love my family. I am the wife to the most wonderful man on the planet and mother to the sweetest little girl I know. I love my life. It may be crazy, but I have something to say, something to share, and an adventure to live!
